The Ali Hunter Memorial Scholarship (AHS Class of 1998)

This scholarship is awarded in honor of Alison (Ali) Hunter, a Falcon leader on the field and in the community. Ali was senior co-captain of the Avon girls’ lacrosse team, co-president of the school’s AVON Club, and a ‘Gold Award’ winning Girl Scout. In addition, she was a community volunteer dedicated to fighting hunger at the Immaculate Conception Homeless shelter and through various fundraising programs. The scholarship bearing Ali’s name is awarded to one senior athlete who is a good student, has participated in various AHS sports, is active in school and community service projects, and possesses a natural exuberance. This annual scholarship is funded by the AHS Booster Club and the recipient is chosen by the Booster Club Named Scholarships Committee.

The Richard A. Migli Memorial Scholarship (AHS Class of 1970)- Given to One Female and One Male

This scholarship is awarded in honor of Richard (Dick) Migli, one of the finest athletes to ever wear the Falcon uniform. Dick played football, basketball and baseball for Avon High, earning an exceptional twelve Varsity letters. He was an ebullient leader, on and off the field, even into adulthood when he led the Farmington Valley touch football league. The scholarship in Dick’s name is awarded to two senior athletes (one female, one male) who play multiple AHS Varsity sports, are good students, spirited leaders, and who possess a "zest for life" as Dick did. These two annual scholarships are funded by the AHS Booster Club, and the recipients are chosen by the Booster Club Named Scholarships Committee.

What makes you a good candidate for the Richard Migli Scholarship?

The Robert Madaket Brisco Memorial Scholarship (AHS Class of 2013)

This scholarship is awarded in honor of Robert Madaket Brisco, a multi-sport athlete (soccer, golf, track and swimming) and co-captain of the AHS 2012 soccer team that competed in the State Class L finals. Robby found great joy in training, competing and, when his illness limited his ability to compete, simply being part of a team; he wore his Falcon jersey with great pride. The scholarship bearing Robby’s name is awarded to one AHS student-athlete who has participated in various Avon High School sports, has shown strength in the face of adversity, and inspires others with his/her unsinkable spirit. This annual scholarship is funded by the AHS Booster Club, and the recipient is chosen by the Booster Club Named Scholarships Committee.

What makes you a good candidate for the Robby Brisco Scholarship?

The Curtis Hunt Alvord Legacy Scholarship (AHS Class of 2004)

This scholarship is awarded in honor of Curt Alvord and available to a graduating AHS Boys soccer player. Curt played for the soccer team from 2000-2004, then coached the AHS Freshman Boys’ soccer team during 2019.  Curt’s college essay was about what soccer taught him both on & off the field, and he chose to highlight what he learned from playing soccer: Respect, sportsmanship, leadership, a positive attitude, and love of the game.  The Alvord family will be selecting the winning applicant based on how similar qualities were exhibited on & off the field.

The Curtis Hunt Alvord Pay It Forward Scholarship (AHS Class of 2004)

This scholarship is awarded in honor of Curt Alvord and is available to all graduating student athletes. While playing soccer at AHS, Curt often found inspiration from both his teammates and classmates.   This scholarship will be awarded to a student athlete who inspired those around them and who demonstrates how they inspired others and brought kindness to their those around them. The Alvord family will be selecting the winning applicant based on how similar qualities were exhibited on & off the field.

Membership Requirement:  The parent or guardian must be a member of the Booster Club by April 1st of the current year for the scholarship applicant to be eligible.
